Come and see top professional outdoor productions of Shakespeare this summer in a beautiful amphitheatre next to the mighty St. Lawrence River in Downtown Prescott. The festival began to take shape in 2002 when a small, self-produced, touring production of Romeo & Juliet came to the area. The community loved the idea of hosting live theatre and agreed that the company could use the Kinsmen Amphitheatre for a full production of The Tempest in the summer of 2003. In 2006, the festival expanded to two full scale productions among other activities. The festival is the only live professional outdoor theatre in the St Lawrence Seaway region.
